The Center was established by the ministerial decree No7, issued on May 29 1994, by the Minister of Higher Education and the Supreme President of Kuwait University. The Center is one of specialized centers for research and studies in the gulf and Arabian Peninsula region, and is chaired by the Vice-President of Kuwait University for Research. It is currently located on the Shuwaikh campus.
